Start on proper weight loss program and physical exercises after consulting with the Dr. As she is obsessed she might have nodules swolen up and trigger points on the calf region as seen in most of the patients . heat the calf region using steam, calf stretch and MFR. will help. Along with mild mobilization. Towel exercises for the knee me also be helpful.

Decrease in joint space , and arthritis changes seen in x ray. Pain hydrotherapy will be helpful as she is diabetic. Both for reducing pain and weight. Proper diet will also help.
